Bee Day at Fairbairn House

See a live observation hive and join staff from the Canadian Agriculture and Food Museum as they delve into the fascination world of the honeybee! The Canadian Wildlife Federation will also be on hand showing pollinator specimens.

Did you know that the smallest farm animal plays the greatest role in food production? Try on a beekeeper’s uniform and gloves, put an empty hive back together, and learn how honeybees turn nectar into honey. Then, compare the taste of a variety of honeys! There’s a reason we have the saying “busy as a bee”. These tiny toilers don’t just make honey and beeswax, many plants rely on bees to produce fruits and seeds.
